Scope of Studies

The Doctoral Candidates’ Track requires full participation in the Identity and Public Policy Program , in addition to being part of a research group of the JSC’s Institute for the Study of Ethics and International Relations. The program includes a series of expert lectures on ethics and international relations, independent research guided by experts in relevant fields, and a joint research paper.

Requirements

Under the guidance of program head Dr. Assaf Malach, the research group meets one day a week at the JSC campus, in parallel with the academic school year. The program’s weekly session is comprised of individual research (conducted at the JSC library or other university library, upon approval of the program head) as well as a group session from 14:00-17:00, which includes two study units: the first is designated to a guest lecturer on the topic of the joint research paper, and the second is designated to students’ presentations and follow-up discussions.
Participants are required to present the group with their progress and dilemmas encountered during their work, as well as submit quarterly progress reports. In addition to the group sessions, participants meet bi-weekly one-on-one with the head of the program, to monitor their progress.
The group’s joint research paper will be presented at a seminar on ethics and international relations, to be held at the end of the school year.
