The Government Internship Program
The Government Internship Program is a year-long internship opportunity for JSC graduates to intern in various government ministries, thereby gaining much experience which will stand them in good stead in their future line of work in the public service. This internship affords the interns hands-on experience and a better understanding of the workings of the government and the interface between its various systems.
The internship is 2–3 days a week in the designated government office. Currently the JSC interns are interning in the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Interior, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Justice.
In addition to training from their designated mentor in the governmental office, interns benefit from ongoing training from JSC staff, as well as weekly seminars. The program merges the theoretical basis gained in the Identity and Public Policy Program with the practical needs of the government, and is part of the JSC’s overall strategy of developing a leading professional and intellectual community in the civil service in Israel.
The Fellowship Track
The Government Internship Program has been expanded to include a Fellowship Track, geared toward JSC graduates who are currently researching strategic policy issues as well as graduates who already hold managerial positions in the public service, or who are spearheading social and/or public initiatives. Participants in the Fellowship Track take part in the weekly seminars, along with the Government Interns, making for a fruitful exchange of ideas, impressions and reflections of their respective experiences.
The Civics and History Education Project
The Civics and History Education Project was established in 2012, with an understanding of the strategic importance of civics and history education. Civics education in Israel requires more than just being familiar with government offices and the legislative process. Being a citizen of the Jewish State necessitates a thorough understanding of our national past, our raison d'être, and our shared vision for the future.
The civics and history curricula touch upon core fundamental and strategic issues, and as such they play a role not only in the construction of a conceptual and theoretical framework, but in the shaping of the student's identity as a person and as a citizen.
It was with this understanding that the Civics and History Education Project was launched. This project covers core issues in which teachers and students seek to broaden and deepen their knowledge and about which they wish to engage in classroom discussion.
We are currently developing content for teachers, with the aim of deepening and broadening their knowledge as well as honing their teaching methods in these subjects. Thus far, five books have been published for the benefit of civics and history teachers, complete with didactic aids and lesson plans. Doctoral Candidates' Program
The Doctoral Candidates' Track of the Identity and Public Policy Program.
This year a new track has been opened in the Identity and Public Policy Program for Outstanding Students, geared specifically toward doctoral candidates.
Four exceptional doctoral students have been selected from a pool of dozens of candidates. These students participate in the Identity and Public Policy Program on Thursdays, as well as in a research group on ethics and international relations which meets on Mondays.
The doctoral candidates' track includes a series of expert lectures on ethics and international relations, independent research guided by experts in the field, and a joint paper written by all four research fellows.
A symposium will be held on Jerusalem Day, May 18 2015, where the fellows' joint research findings will be presented. Additional lectures by experts in the field will be given as well.
Participants in this track are eligible for a substantial scholarship.
JSC Online
The JSC Online Program
The JSC Online program is designed to suit individuals who have a hectic schedule and would therefore prefer to learn on their own time, with the benefit of a virtual classroom setting and all its amenities. The program, which is based on the Identity and Public Policy Program, offers participants an in-depth view and understanding of the core issues on Israel's national agenda, and enables them to be part of an active learning community, engage in discussion, and benefit from personal mentoring by the JSC staff.
The program uses the JSC's Moodle learning platform, and is comprised of four terms: Israel: particularism vs. universalism; Israel and the Middle East; Israel in the Global Arena – a threat to world peace or a light unto the nations?; and Toward a Just Society: politics, economics, and the media. Each term has two study modules, with each running for three weeks. Students are required to read articles, watch videos and recordings of lectures, participate in discussions, and submit a weekly assignment.Every third Monday a summary session is held at the JSC, consisting of three lectures and discussions designed to recap the insights gained in the course and develop a broader view and deeper understanding of the subject matter as a whole. In addition, two tours are conducted (one per semester), to complement the learning program. Program participants are also eligible to participate in workshops offered at the JSC to hone their professional skills and personal abilities necessary for public leadership.

Alumni Association
The Alumni Association is integral to the fulfillment of the JSC’s mission of creating a cadre of intellectual and professional leaders who have a broad-minded Jewish and Zionist perspective and who can effect positive change in Israel’s public sphere.
Our task as a public leadership school does not end with the students’ successful completion of the program. In fact, that is precisely when our multi-year work begins, in terms of placing graduates in key influential positions in academia or the public sector; identifying suitable programs, internships and fellowships, as well as conferences and seminars where JSC graduates can participate (either as attendees or as presenters); fostering graduates’ personal and professional development; accompanying graduates on their respective professional paths, offering expert guidance, training and personal mentoring; and maintaining and establishing the connections necessary for their professional advancement in the public sphere.
Additionally, the JSC offers a range of personal, professional and entrepreneurial skill-building workshops throughout the year, including persuasive writing; public speaking; writing policy papers; résumé writing and preparing for interviews; how to get a foot in the door in the public sector; resource development; project planning and management; and navigating new media.
The JSC Alumni Association holds monthly lectures, open to all JSC graduates, as well as an annual TED conference and a weekend seminar. Each alumni gathering consists of a lecture followed by dinner, during which a graduate presents his or her current project or initiative. The Alumni Association affords graduates a place to touch base, network, brainstorm and share ideas and experiences with staff and peers on an ongoing basis, thus creating a cohesive professional network which will stand them in good stead in their future line of work.
